His eyes followed her, the fragrance of the flowers in her braid pulled him towards her. He didn’t mind the strangers in the room, nor did they!

She searched for a book. she could have asked me, but this is a silence zone, nobody talks!

Coming back to this book lover, either, she is not able to locate the book or the book she needs is on the topmost rack, and lo! the tall boy nearby gets it for her. That’s it! Love is in the air! Soon they get married and never step into my abode ever again! How mean!

Another day, another story!

Kartik was in love with Revathi. He was quite certain that she too loved him but wanted to hear it from her. This beautiful library was the ideal place, he thought, and yes, he succeeded in wooing her! Both Divya and Kartik are happy but they never visit me ever again! Wow! No gratitude at all!

In another love story, the boy and girl meet, sorry sorry, bump into each other, the books slip from the hands and grace my floor! Most occassions, it is the girl who is clumsy, drops her belongings, and the saviour is invariably a smart handsome boy, who helps and eventually fall in love. Same ending! They never ever visit me again in their life!! I am left brooding!

Jokes apart, I really feel happy that I have played an important role in their lives. I would be spoken about highly in their love stories as a great happening place!

Some day, I am sure, someone from their families would come looking for me, the place where love bloomed!

On a serious note, I really would love to see my abode full of people, young and the old. I want visitors everyday. I love to see them seated here immersed in reading, away fom the kindle in their pockets or that sleeky mobile which has ruined my dear regular visitors! While Kindle has made them lazy, the mobile has made them completely immobile and ignorant! Hardly do they read anything!! I have lost my friends, my bookaholics!

There were times when we had many branches, almost every lane had one library, mostly small spaces but filled with thousands of books, books that were old and few new books too!

My cousin, a study library nearby is doing well and am happy for the students who visit them.

My abode for them is so empty these days! Once, it was full of vibrant people with a love for reading. Reading in my place has a special charm, I know and have seen that glow on their faces. Mine is a silent zone, I am aware, yet their presence would make it lively! Without them here, I feel so lonely. I can literally hear a pin drop, this silence is truly deafening.

I long to see them here, grace my abode again and leave for home, enriched with knowledge and pure happiness!
